Every personal computer or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that interacts with the computer hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, as well as any applications that are installed on the system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, each app runs within the parameters set by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This goes for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, referred to as guest OS and host OS, so that you can set up a different software environment on a single machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

If you choose to go for one of our VPS server plans, you'll be able to select one of the three Linux distributions which we provide for the OS of the servers - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're among the most popular and most dependable server OSs on the market and we offer them so that you have a choice for the software environment of your machine if you wish to install some app with specific requirements regarding the packages that must be present on the hosting server. We also offer three web hosting Control Panels and which one of them you could use depends on the OS that you've selected. We leave the option to replace the server Operating System open, so if you want to use an app that requires an OS different from the one you have, we can always reinstall the VPS. In addition, we can keep the OS up-to-date weekly by installing all of the security updates which may be available.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

In case you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the registration page as we want to give you a wider choice for the system environment on the server as different applications could have particular requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and benefit from a stable and safe web hosting service. Depending on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System if the one you have selected at first does not meet the requirements of the software which you intend to run. We can also update your OS routinely in order to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
